PRESS RELEASE: Ware 250th Gala Parade Volunteer Meeting Saturday, August 27, 2011
250th Parade Committee Seeks Volunteers
The Ware 250th Gala Parade Committee is seeking volunteers for the day of the Gala Parade Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 1pm. Adult volunteers are needed to act as ambassadors at the parking areas around town, as well as Division heads for the parade. “I promise all volunteers will be able to view most if not all the parade” says Jill Sorel, logistics coordinator. The volunteers are separated into 5 categories; Green (beginning of the parade) Red (end of the parade) White (signage and barrier/ early morning) Black (clean-up/ after parade) and blue (sign-in and parking). “You can work an hour or the whole day.” states Sorel. “In addition, the parade needs banner carriers for the sponsorship banners. These can be children 11 and up with permission from their parents.”
The Gala parade committee has scheduled an open meeting for volunteers on Saturday, August 27 at 9:30am at the American Legion Hall on Maple Street. “We will discuss the route, responsibilities and your role in the day’s activities and get a chance to meet each other face to face. Town representatives will be in attendance to speak about safety and traffic issues and refreshments will be served.” “We are hoping for a lot of involvement from the community to make this a wonderful, safe and happy day for all marchers and viewers”
