Ware 250th Anniversary
GALA PARADE
Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 1pm
Join the Town of Ware - nationally known as the “Town That Can’t Be Licked”, as we celebrate this momentous day!
· PARADE ROUTE
The Parade will form on South Street and proceed to Main Street to West Street and will end at the Ware School Campus.
· MAIN STAGING AREAS
All Units will report as directed to the South Street School on South Street. This area is for parade participants only.
· ROAD CLOSURES
At 11 AM, South Street will close to vehicular traffic until 4 PM
West Street and Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from Noon until 4 PM
Routes 9 & 32- All traffic will be detoured beginning at Noon until 4 PM
All detour routes will be clearly marked and staffed by public safety personnel.
· EMERGENCY AID STATIONS
Aid Stations will be located at Veterans Park (Main St.), South Street School (South St.), West Street at Gervais Auto (105 West St.) and Ware High School (237 West St.)
· VIEWER PARKING AND COURTESY SHUTTLES
Wal-mart and Lowes on Rte. 32 will provide parking with a shuttle service provided by First Student Bus Company from 9:30 AM to Noon to the parade Route. A return shuttle will be provided from 4 PM to 6 PM from the parade route to these parking lots
· Additional Parking
Country Bank for Savings (West St. & Bank St.) The Municipal Lots on Pleasant St. and Grenville Park on Church Street will also be available to the public.
Use of Any Parking lots along the parade route must take place prior to noon
· HANDICAP PARKING
Veterans Park Parking Lot on Main Street will be available for handicap parking only
· BATHROOMS AND COMFORT STATIONS
Portable bathroom facilities will be available at the South Street School Lot and at the Ware School Campus.
Comfort stations will be available at the Ware Community Church on South Street and the Ware Senior Center located at 1 Robbins Road (behind Cumberland Farms).
· AFTER PARADE ACTIVITIES
The Following activities will take place immediately at the conclusion of the parade:
1. Watch “The Machine” Jesse Green, a master chainsaw sculptor or take a tethered Hot Air Balloon Ride. There will be music and food available at Memorial Field located on South Street.
2. The “Official” After Parade Party will be held at the Ware Knights of Columbus Pavilion on West Main Street. Tickets are $7.00 per person and must be purchased in advance of the event. Tickets are available at the Town Clerk’s Office (413-967-9648 x 177), the Ware Senor Center (413-967-9645) or calling Carol at 413-967-8304.
